Using the wide mode

Youcanrecorda16:9widepicturetowatchonthe16:9wide-screenTV(16:9WIDE). Black bands appear on the LCD screen during recording in 16:9 WIDE mode [a]. The pictures during playing back on a normal TV [b] or a wide-screen TV [c] are compressedinthewidthwisedirection.Ifyousetthescreenmodeofthewide-screen

In CAMERA mode, set 16:9WIDE to ON inin the menu settings (p. 80).

To cancel the wide mode

Set16:9WIDEtoOFFinthemenusettings.

In the wide mode, you cannot select the following functions:

–Oldmovie

–Bounce

During recording

Youcannotselectorcancelthewidemode.Whenyoucancelthewidemode,setyour camcordertothestandbymodeandthenset16:9WIDEtoOFFinthemenusettings.

Connection for a TV

Picturesrecordedinthe16:9WIDEmodeautomaticallyappearontheTVscreenatfull sizewhen:

–you connect your camcorder to a TV that is compatible with the video ID (ID-1/ID-2) system.

–youconnectyourcamcordertotheSvideojackontheTV.

ID-2 system

TheID-2systemsendsacopyrightprotectionsignalwithID-1signalsinsertedbetween videosignalswhenyouconnectyourcamcordertootherequipmentbyanA/V connectingcable.
