To record a sound centering on a specific direction, slide the DIRECTNL switch
to the “ON” position. This is convenient when you want to record a particular sound at a conference/meeting, etc. When the DIRECTNL switch is set to “ON,” the directional microphone is used, therefore the sound is recorded in the monaural mode even when you select the stereo recording mode (LPCM 44/16, LPCM 22/16, MP3 192k, MP3 128k, LPEC STHQ, LPEC ST or LPEC STLP mode). When you are using an external microphone, the DIRECTNL switch does not function.
