CARE OF YOUR MIXER

General Precautions

Avoid storin g or u sing the m ixer in cond itions of excessive
heat or cold, or in positions where it is likely to be subject to
vibrat ion, du st or m oistu re.
Keep the mixer clean using a soft dry brush, and an
occasional wipe with a damp cloth or ethyl alcohol. Do not
use any other solvents which may cause d amage to p aint or
plastic parts.
Avoid placing drinks or smoking m aterials on or near the
mixer. Sticky drinks and cigarette ash are frequent causes of
damage to faders and switches.
Regular care and inspection will be rewarded by a long life
and maximum reliability.

balance the relative levels of the left and right chann els of a
stereo signal.
clipping the onset of severe distortion in the signal path, usually
caused by the peak signal voltage being limited by the
circuit’s power supply voltage.
dB (decibel) a ratio of two voltages or signal levels, expressed by the
equa tion d B=20Log10 (V1/ V2). Add ing t he su ffix ’u’ de notes
the r atio is r elativ e to 0.775V RMS.
DI(direct injection) the practice of connecting an electric musical instrument
directly to the input of the mixing console, rather than to an
amp lifier and loud speak er wh ich is cove red by a micro p hon e
feeding the console.
direct output a post fade line level output from the input chan nel, bypassing
the su mmin g am p lifiers, ty p ically for s endin g to ind ivid ual
tape tracks during recording.
equaliser a device that allows the boosting or cutting of selected
bands of frequencies in the signal path.
