Paper feeding

If cut sheet paper (withoutthe ASF) is not feeding smoothly,check the following:

Is the paper guide in place andvertical?

Are the left andright guides too close together?

Is the ASF selected with the DIP switch se!tirws?

Areyou tryingto feed paper using the fkmt panel buttons while the 04 LINE indicator isilluminated?

Is the papertoo thick?

The paper guide should be in place vertically for cut sheets to feed smoothlv. .

If the left andright gui&s are too close together, the

paperwill not feed smoothly.Move thema little further apartto allow the paperto feed freely.

If it is, thendeselect it.

You can only f~paper in this way wh~ theprinteris off-line. Set the printeroff-line andthen feed paper.

Therearelirnilsto thethicknessof paperthatcsnbe fed in this way. Try with thinnerpaper.

If fanfold(continuous)paperisnotbeing fedcorrectlyusingthetractorfeed, checkthe following:

Is the paperguide in thever- tical position?

Are the holes on each side of thepaperalignedwithregard

to each other in the sprock- e~?

Arethesprocketstoocloseor too far apart?

Are the sprockets locked in position and the covers closed?

Is the paperfeeding freely into the printer?

Make sure the release lever is pushedto the ~	posi-
tion.

Whenusing the tractorf~ the paperguide shouldbe horizontal.

Ifthetwosidesof thepaperareoutof aligmnen~realign them so thatthe sprocketholes matchup.

Misalignmentof the sprockets, making the paper too loose or too tigh~ will preventa smoothpaperfeed.

Correctthis if necessary.

The papershould not be too far tkomthe printer(less than 1 meter/3 feet), andthere should be no cables or other obstacles obstructingits path. The papershould dSO be feeding straightinto the printer,andan angled feed mav cause iams andblockwes.
