finishedwall,itmay beeasiertomark boththeinsideand
outsidewall.Alignthe holesbydrillinga holethroughthe
centerofthetemplatefromtheinsidethroughtotheoutside.
Thetemplatecannowbepositionedontheoutsidewallusing
thedrilledholeasacenteringpointforthetemplate.
3.A)MASONRYSIDEWALLS
Chiselanopeningapproximatelyonehalfinch(1.3cm)larger
thanthemarkedcircle.
B)WOODENSIDEWALLS
Drillapilotholeapproximatelyonequarterinch(0.64cm)outside
ofthemarkedcircle.Thispilotholeisusedasastartingpoint
forasaws-all orsabre sawblade. Cutaroundthe marked
circlestayingapproximatelyonequarterinch(0.64cm)outside
oftheline. (Thiswill allowthe venttoeasily slidethrough
theopening. The resulting gap will be covered up by the
VentTerminalcoverplate.)Repeatthissteponinsidewallif
necessary.

thegapbetween thepipe andcover plate.Apply enoughto
fillsomeofthegapbetweenthepipe andwall.Placesomeof
thecaulkingonthebackoftheplatetoholditagainstthewall
afterinstallation.Iftheventpipeisinstalleduptothewall,with
acouplingonthe endagainstthewall opening,thepipe with
theventterminal canbe preparedfor gluingbeforeinserting
throughthe wall. Slide the pipe through the wall and insert
intothecouplingontheothersideofthewall,makingsurethat
theventterminalends uppointedin thecorrectposition,see
Figure18A.

NOTE: TO PREVENT EXHAUSTING PRODUCTS FROM
CIRCULATING TO THE AIR INTAKE IN WINDY/COLD AREAS,
THE MAXIMUM PRACTICAL DISTANCE BETWEEN THESE TWO
TERMINALS IS RECOMMENDED.

FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS PERTAINING TO TERMINAL
LOCATION MUST BE FOLLOWED.
1.Theintakeairterminalandtheexhaustventterminalmustterminate
onthesame��� exteriorwallandmust beseparatedby aminimumof
24”(61cm)onverticalcenterline(seeFigure18C).Incolderclimates
increasingthe 24” (61cm) minimum will reduce possibility of frost
overfromsidewindsblowingexhaustvapors totheairintakeofthe
direct vent.
2.Thehorizontalcenterlineoftheintakeairterminalmaynotbelocated
lowerthanthehorizontalcenterlineoftheexhaustventterminal(see
Figure18C).
