1 TIME key Press this key to cycle through the time display modes.

2DISPLAY key Press this key to see the current disc tittle when a disc is stopping, or the current track tittle while playback or ready mode.

When entering TEXT data, using this key switches the text characters.

3 REPEAT key Changes between the various repeat modes when playing back (see “Repeat playback” on page 18).

4A-B key Sets the A-B repeat points and playback mode (see “A-B repeat mode” on page 19).

5 DIRECTORY key Use this key to switch MP3 file directory playback on and off.

6PITCH key Switches pitch control on and off.

7FADER key Use this key to start fade-in recordings or to start a fade-out when recording (see “Fade-out and fade-in recording” on page 23 for details).

8 RECORD key Use this key to enter record ready mode.

9SEARCH keys (/˚) Use these keys to move the playback position inside a track.

0STOP key Use this key to stop playback or record- ing.

q READY key Use this key to stands by playback or recording.

w SYNC REC key Use this key to turn synchronized recording on and off (see “Synchronized recording” on page 23 for details).

eOPEN/CLOSE key Opens and closes the disc tray.

r Number keys (0 through 9) Use these keys for direct entry of track numbers when playing back, or making a programmed play list.

tCLEAR key Clears a mistaken entry made with the number keys.

In the program mode, pressing this key cancels the program entered at the last.

It also acts like the ESCAPE key in the Menu mode.

yENTER key Pressing this key is equivalent to press- ing the MULTI JOG dial to confirm an entry.

uMENU key Switches the menu mode on or off.

i PLAY MODE key Use this key to choose between the different playback modes (single play, continue play, etc.).

oERASE key Erases tracks (CD-RW discs only), or a whole disc, or to refresh a “bad” disc, or to unfinalize a finalized disc (see “Erasing” on page 26 for details).

pFINALIZE key Finalizes recordable discs. See “Fi- nalizing” on page 25 for details.

a REC MUTE key Use this key when recording, to mute the input signal for about four seconds and then to enter record ready mode (see “Rec mute function” on page 25).

sSKIP (Â/¯) keys Use these keys to move be- tween tracks when playing back (equivalent to rotat- ing the MULTI JOG dial).

d PLAY key Use this key to start playback, or enter record mode from record ready mode.
