This method is very useful when making many measurement son t he

same package. Using a ground plane on the IC package makes

probing the IC package easier and avoids adding unnece ssaryground

lead length and distortion.

SureFoot Grounding

If you cannot use the recommended low-inductance grounding

method, you may ground the probe to the IC package unde r test

using a SureFoot adapter. Refer to Figure 9.

Use a SureFoot adapter at the end of a short ground lead to connec t

directly to the IC package ground. This met hod is preferred over

using an adjacent circuit ground because it is the shortest ground

path possible.
