Old Fashioned Rye Bread
Makes one 2.5 lb Loaf
INGREDIENTS
1 cup water
1/4 cup juice from a jar of good quality dill pickles 2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon honey, my favorite is Tupelo honey
3 teaspoons vital wheat gluten
1 tablespoon caraway seeds
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 cup whole grain rye flour
1/2 cup 100% whole wheat flour
11/2 cups bread flour
11/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
METHOD
1Following the order listed, place ingredients in bread pan. Insert bread pan into breadmaker; close lid.
2Press MENU and select WHOLE WHEAT.
3Press SIZE and select LARGE.
4Press COLOR and select DARK.
5Press START.
6Total machine time is 3 hours and 40 minutes.

Grammy’s Rolled Oat Bread

11/2 cups water
11/2 tablespoons butter, melted 1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup molasses
3 tablespoons powdered milk 1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups bread flour
2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
METHOD
1Following the order listed, place ingredients in bread pan. Insert bread pan into breadmaker; close lid.
2Press MENU and select WHOLE WHEAT.
3Press SIZE and select LARGE.
4Press COLOR and select DARK.
5Press START.
