Selecting the sound mode

The unit is equipped with a variety of sound programs and surround decoders that allow you to enjoy playback sources with your favorite sound mode (such as sound field effect or stereo playback).

Selecting a sound program suitable for movies (p.52)

Press MOVIE repeatedly.

Selecting a sound program suitable for music or stereo playback (p.53)

Press MUSIC repeatedly.

Selecting a surround decoder (p.55)

Press SUR.DECODE repeatedly.

Switching to the straight decode mode (p.54)

Press STRAIGHT.

Switching to the Pure Direct mode (p.55)

Press PURE DIRECT.

Enable Compressed Music Enhancer (p.56)

Press ENHANCER.

On-screen sound program/surround decoder selection

aPress ON SCREEN.

bUse the cursor keys to select “Sound Program” and press

ENTER.

cUse the cursor keys to select a sound program/surround decoder and press ENTER.

You can also switch the sound programs and surround decoder by pressing

PROGRAM.

You can change the settings of the surround programs and surround decoders in the “Sound Program” menu (p.94).

The sound mode can be applied separately to each input source.

When you play back audio signals with a sampling rate of higher than 96 kHz, the straight decode mode (p.54) is automatically selected.

You can check which speakers are currently outputting sound by looking at the speaker indicators on the unit’s front panel (p.10) or at the “Audio Signal” screen in the “Information” menu (p.114).
