TROUBLESHOOTING POINTS

PROBLEM

Engine won’t crank.

1.

15-amp fuse blown.

Replace fuse.

Loose or corroded or defective

Tighten, clean or replace

Engine cranks, but won't start

Out of fuel.

Replenish fuel.

Fuel solenoid (FS) is defective

Replace solenoid.

Open Wire #14 from Engine Control

Reconnect wire.

Spark plugs defective.

Clean, regap or replace plugs.

 

 

 

 

 

Engine starts hard, runs rough.

Air cleaner plugged or damaged.

Clean or replace as needed.

Plugged fuel line.

Defective spark plugs.

Clean, regap or replace plugs.

 

 

 

 

 

Engine starts, then shuts down.

Engine oil level is low.

Check oil and add oil as needed.

Engine is overheated.

Check cooling system for leaks.

Defective Low Oil Pressure Switch

Replace switch.

Defective Coolant Temperature Switch

Defective Control Module circuit board.

Replace board.

Coolant Level is Low.

Repair leak - Add coolant.

Defective Low Coolant Level Switch

Generator internal failure.

Thermal circuit breaker open.
