Solving computer problems

Startup problems

Problem: The Microsoft® Windows® operating system will not start.

Solution: Use the IBM Rescue and Recovery workspace to help solve or identify your problem.

To open IBM Rescue and Recovery, do the following:

1.Turn off your PC, and then turn it back on again.

2.Watch the screen carefully while your PC starts. When the following prompt is displayed, press the blue Access IBM button to open the Rescue and Recovery workspace: “To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button.”

A window such as this will appear:

3.After the Rescue and Recovery workspace opens, you can do the following:

vRescue and Restore Your files, folders or backups using IBM Rapid Restore Ultra.

vConfigure Your system settings and passwords.

vCommunicate Use the internet and link to the IBM support site.

vTroubleshoot Diagnose problems using diagnostics.
