Switching on and off can be carried out from a remote system using a modem/DCU. Information on operating the DCU can be found in the data sheet “8323 Data Communi- cation Unit“ [5].

The optional on/off facility is required. In addition, automatic switching on/off of the S130 must be configured as part of the starting and shutting down procedure for the SKP. The SKP switches the S130 on. After the IMPL, the BS2000 system is started using the POWER ON IPL function of the SVP.

5.7 Switching global storage on and off

The service processor in global storage is linked via the SPC (System Power Controller) interface to the service processor in the S130.

Global storage is automatically switched on or off with the S130, regardless of whether this is performed manually, automatically or using the ATOP.

A battery backup can be installed in the global storage cabinet, which ensures data saving even in the event of a power failure.
