1–Hardware and Software Components Supported QLogic Adapters

Firmware

The firmware module performs most of the Fibre Channel and FCoE protocol-related functions, thus freeing the system CPU and memory resources from protocol processing. This efficiency keeps the QLogic Fibre Channel and Converged Network Adapter drivers thin, which saves runtime system resources such as CPU and memory.

The QLogic Fibre Channel and Converged Network Adapter firmware is bundled with the driver. For the QLE8000 Series Converged Network Adapters, the FCoE Engine (framer) firmware is resident on the adapter. The FCoE firmware for the adapter is also bundled with the driver.

Management Tools and Utilities

QLogic offers a comprehensive suite of management tools and utilities, including the following:

„SANsurfer FC HBA Manager provides a graphical user interface for simplified management.

„SANsurfer FC HBA CLI (command line interface) enables you to automate Fibre Channel Adapter management by means of scripting and interactive mode.
