Figure 6-12: Device Security

Force HTTPS: When enabled, this option restricts access to the web interface to HTTPS connections only. The freeView IP will not listen on the HTTP port for incoming connections.

For instructions on creating a customer SSL certificate that is used to identify the freeView IP 800, see the Section 6.5.4 titled “Certificate”.

KVM encryption: This option controls the encryption of the RFB protocol. RFB is used by the Remote Console to transmit both the screen data to the administrator machine and keyboard and mouse data back to the host. If set to “Off”, no encryption will be used. If set to “Try”, the applet tries to create an encrypted connection. If an encrypted connection cannot be made, an unencrypted connection will be used. If set to “Force”, the applet tries to create an encrypted connection. If an encrypted connection cannot be made, an error will be reported.
