Note: Unlike the internal log file, the size of the NFS log file is not limited by the device. Every log event will be appended to the end of the file so it will grow continuously. Remember to clean out old log entries from the file regularly.

SMTP Logging enabled: If this option is selected, the freeView IP 800 will e-mail the log to an e-mail address specified in the Sender Email Address field. These e-mails contain the same information as the internal log file and the mail subject is filled with the event group of the occurred log event. In order to use this feature, an SMTP server must be specified which is accessible by the device and does not require authentication. The information should be entered in the following format:

<serverip>:<port>

SNMP Logging enabled: If this option is selected, the freeView IP 800 will send an SNMP trap to a specified destination IP address every time a log event occurs. If the receiver requires a community string, it can be set in the appropriate text field. Most of the event traps only contain one descriptive string with all information about the log event. Only authentication and host power events have their own trap class that consists of several fields with detailed information about the event. A third party SNMP monitor is required to receive the traps.
