3 Operating the Panel PC 670/870

3.1Normal Operation

The operating system and additional user software is installed on the hard disk.

Note

After all the necessary applications have been installed, it is recommended to create a mirror image of the hard disk contents. This should then be saved on a CD-ROM, for example.

Activation

After switching on the power supply, the Panel PC 670/870 performs a self- test. During the self-test, the message Press <F2> to enter SETUP appears briefly.

After the self-test has been completed, the operating system is loaded and the desktop displayed.

Shut Down

Terminate the operating system using Start Exit. After the operating system has been shut down, the Panel PC 670/870 can be disconnected from the power supply.

Note

In the case of operating systems Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the Panel PC 670/870 can be disconnected from the power supply as soon as the display turns dark after terminating the operating system.

Warning

When using the direct key module, ensure that the function and special keys remain operable until the entire unit has been switched off from the power supply.
