Status - Displays current state of this port within the Spanning Tree:

Disabled

No link has been established on this port.

 

Otherwise, the port has been disabled by the user

 

or has failed diagnostics.

Blocking

Port received STA configuration messages, but

 

does not forward packets.

Listening

Port will leave blocking state due to a topology

 

change, starts transmitting configuration messages,

 

but does not yet forward packets.

Learning

Port has transmitted configuration messages for an

 

interval set by the Forward Delay parameter with

 

out receiving contradictory information. Port

 

address is cleared, and the port begins learning

 

addresses.

Forwarding

The port forwards packets, and continues learning

 

addresses.

Designated Cost - The cost for a packet to travel from this port to the root in the current Spanning Tree configuration. The slower the media, the higher the cost.

Designated Bridge (ID) - The priority and MAC address of the device through which this port must communicate to reach the root of the Spanning Tree.

Designated Port (ID) - The priority and number of the port on the des- ignated bridging device through which this Switch must communicate with the root of the Spanning Tree.

Root Cost - The path cost from the root port on this Switch to the root device.

VLAN Information

The VLAN Information screen offers access to information on the ports that have been automatically learned via GVRP and all the ports that have been configured by dynamic or static means to forward VLAN traffic.

VLAN Dynamic Registration Information - Shows the ports that have been automatically learned via GVRP.

VLAN Forwarding Information - Shows all the ports that have been con- figured by either dynamic or static means to forward VLAN traffic.
