9. ENCODE

This item lets you adjust parameters for playing back tapes that are recorded on a Panasonic system or a non- Panasonic system.

1.Move the cursor to the ENCODE parameter.

2.Select PANA or OTHERS by pressing the + or button. The initial factory setting is PANA.

PANA: Select this, if the tape was recorded on a Panasonic Multiplexer system.

OTHERS: Select this for non-Panasonic system.

9-1. SW INTERVAL

This item lets you notify the Multiplexer of the field interval in which camera channels are switched on the recorded tape.

1.Move the cursor to the SW INTERVAL parameter.

2.Select 1, 2, or 4 by pressing the + or button. The initial factory setting is 1.

1:Select this, if the tape is recorded with field rate 1.

2:Select this, if the tape is recorded with field rate 2.

4:Select this, if the tape is recorded with field rate 4.

9-2. NO. OF CAMS

This item lets you notify the Multiplexer of the highest chan- nel number recorded on a tape.

1.Move the cursor to the NO. OF CAMS parameter.

2.Select a camera channel between 1-16 (1-9 for WJ- FS309/FS409) by pressing the + or button. The initial factory setting is 16 (9 for WJ-FS309/FS409).

Notes:

If PANA is selected, it is not necessary to set SW INTERVAL and NO. OF CAMS.

If OTHERS is selected, set the VCR's time mode to 2 H or 6 H, not to T/L (Time Lapse).

If OTHERS is selected, tapes recorded with a random order of camera channels (e.g., recorded in ALM - PRI, ALM-ONLY or GROUP mode) will not be reproduced properly.

Playback of Tapes Recorded with Other Multiplexer Systems

The following settings are necessary to play back video tapes recorded with multiplexer systems of other manufac- turers.

1.Set ENCODE to OTHERS.

2.For SW INTERVAL, set the same value as for the VCR time mode.

3.For NO. OF CAMS, set the number of cameras record- ed on the tape.

Notes:

Set SW INTERVAL to 1 for tapes recorded in 24H mode or longer.

Set SW INTERVAL as follows for tapes recorded in 2H or 6H mode:

1:Tapes recorded with field rate 1

2:Tapes recorded with field rate 2

3:Not available

4:Tapes recorded with field rate 4

The display pattern of camera channels on the multi- screen may differ from the normal pattern as shown below. Camera 1 may be placed anywhere on the mul- tiscreen, followed by the other cameras in descending numerical order.

To display a channel in SPOT mode, press the CAM- ERA SELECT button corresponding to the channel num- ber that is originally displayed in that screen segment. For example, press CAMERA SELECT button #1 to dis- play the channel 4 picture.

When playing back a tape recorded in an alarm priority mode, camera channels are not displayed on the multi- screen in the recorded order.
