Cleaning the Filters

The lamp and internal circuits of the AV-61S902 are cooled by a fan which draws in cool air through a pair of intakes. The air intakes are located behind the speaker covers on the front of the television and contain air fil- ters which need periodic cleaning. It is very important the filters be kept clean! If the filters become clogged, cooling air may not reach the lamp or internal circuits. This could cause the lamp or internal circuits to overheat and stop functioning. It is recommended the filters be cleaned at least once every three months. If the television is located in an area where it is exposed to higher levels of dust or other particles in the air, more frequent cleaning may be necessary.

Follow the steps below to clean the filters. To clean the filters you will need a Phillips head screwdriver and a vacuum with a hose attachment. Please read all the steps before you begin.

1) Turn the television off.

Press the Power button on the remote control or television’s front panel to turn the television off. Wait until the picture has closed and the 10 LED lights on the front panel have stopped blinking.

2) Unplug the television.

Disconnect the television’s power cord from the AC outlet. Make sure the 10 LED lights have stopped blinking before you unplug the television.

3) Remove the speaker panels.

The next step is to remove the speaker panels located at the bottom of the front of the television cabinet. The top of the speaker panels are held with Velcro. Make sure the television is unplugged (see steps 1 and 2) before removing the speaker panels.

To remove the panels - Grab the panel from the side near the top. Gently pull the top away from the television. When the top part of the speaker panel is fully away from the television, lift up. The panel will come away from the bottom of the television. Set the panel aside. Repeat this step for the other panel.

4) Remove the filter cover.

Each air filter is covered by a filter cover. To remove this filter cover you will need a Phillips head screwdriver. First loosen the screws located at the four corners of the filter cover. Once the screws have been loosened, gently push the filter cover up until the large holes are aligned with the screw heads, then pull away from the television and set aside. Repeat this step for the other filter cover.
