Basic

If you are using your HDC-401EX for the first time or after a long period of storage

Viewfinder lamp

To turn on the camera, press the power switch until the viewfinder lamp (red) illuminates.

When the camera is powered up, you will hear a “pee” sound and see the viewfinder lamp (green) illuminate.

2 To turn off the camera, press the power switch until the viewfinder lamp (green) goes out.

The viewfinder lamp (green) will go out, and the camera will power off.

If the power switch is released too quickly, the power may not turn on/off. If the camera doesn,t power up/down, press the switch for a longer period.

If you are using your HDC-401EX for the first time or after a long period of storage with the batteries removed from the camera, the internal clock may be reset when the power is turned on, in which case the date/time setting screen will be displayed. Follow the instructions in Setting the Date and Time to set the correct date and time.

Power Off Time Function

If the camera is left with the power on without being operated, the power turns off automatically to save energy. The default setting is 3 minutes P50 .

Set the year, month and date using the control panel. Once the setting is complete, press .

To use the camera again, press the power switch to turn on the power.

The Power Off Time function is also effective when the camera is connected to the AC adapter (sold separately).

If the camera is connected to a computer via the USB cable, the Power Off Time function does not work.

If the Power Off Time function is activated while setting a given item and the power is then turned off, the item you were setting may not be saved. If the item isnt saved, set it again.
