■ Using the AC Adapter (sold separately)

An AC adapter can be connected to the HDC-401EX.

When playing images or videos on a TV or manipulating them on a computer or otherwise keeping the camera on for a long period of time, use of the AC adapter reduces battery consumption.

Before connecting the AC adapter, be sure to turn off the camera,s power.

■Setting the Image Size (Recording Resolution) and Image Quality (Compression Ratio)

You can set a desired image size (recording resolution) and image quality (compression ratio) according to a given purpose.

Image Size (Recording Resolution) and Image Quality (Compression Ratio)

When the image size is increased and image quality set to Fine mode, the data size increases and the number of images that can be recorded in memory, etc., decreases.

You must purchase the AC adapter separately.

You CANNOT charge AA nickel metal hydride batteries, etc., using the AC adapter.

While the AC adapter is connected, power is not supplied from the dry batteries.

The Power Off Time setting remains effective even while the AC adapter is

connected. The default setting is 3 minutes

.

Keep the connected AC adapter cable slack P50

cable remains taut, the

terminals may be subject to excessive force and sustain damage.

Use the appropriate settings according to how you want to use the captured images. For example, select 2304 x 1728/1600 x 1200 if you want to print the images, or 1280 x 960/640 x 480 if you want to send them over the Internet as e-mail attachments.

In Video Capture mode, 320 x 240 is selected as the image size (recording resolution).

For the number of recordable images and data size under each image size/quality setting, see ■Specifications: Number of Recordable Images/Recording Time and Data Size P97 .
