Connecting to the Host Computer

Important

The total length of the SCSI cables, in- cluding the length of the cable inside the personal computer, should be no more than 3m (9.8 ft.) when using Fast SCSI, and no more than 6m (19.7 ft.) when using non-Fast SCSI.

Some combinations of SCSI boards and peripheral devices that are connected simultaneously may not work together properly.

Setting the SCSI ID

ATurn the rotary switch to set the SCSI ID number.

Note

If you change the setting while the power is on, it is necessary to initialize the scanner. Refer to P.16, “Initializ- ing the Scanner.”

Connecting the SCSI Cable

(No Connection to Other Port)

ATurn off the host computer and all peripheral devices that will be con-

nected through the SCSI interface.

BUse SCSI cables to connect the per- sonal computer and the peripheral de-

vices in daisy chain fashion, with this scanner at the end of the daisy chain. (Use either of the two SCSI connec- tors on the scanner.)

CSet DIP switch 3 to off.

This enables the scanner’s internal termi- nator. For details on the functions of the DIP switches, refer to P.43, “DIP Switches.”
