lected a program, press the Calorie Goal Programs button repeatedly until a track appears in the display.

4 Start the walking belt.

To start the walking belt, press the Start button, the Speed increase button, or one of the num- bered speed buttons.

If the Start button or the Speed increase button is pressed, the walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph. As you exercise, change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed in- crease and decrease buttons. Each time a button is pressed, the speed

setting will change by

0.1 mph; if a button is held down, the speed setting will change in in- crements of 0.5 mph.

If one of the numbered speed buttons is pressed, the walking belt will gradually increase in speed until it reaches the selected speed setting. Note:

The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilometers (see THE INFORMA- TION MODE/DEMO MODE on page 19). For simplicity, all instructions in this section refer to miles.

To stop the walking belt, press the Stop button. The time will begin to flash in the display. To restart the walking belt, press the Start button, the Speed increase button, or one of the numbered speed buttons.

Note: The first time you use the treadmill, periodi- cally inspect the alignment of the walking belt, and center it if necessary (see page 22).

5 Change the incline of the treadmill as desired.

To change the incline of the treadmill, press the Incline increase and de- crease buttons or one of

the numbered incline but- tons. Each time the

Incline increase or decrease button is pressed, the incline will change by 0.5%. If one of the num- bered incline buttons is pressed, the treadmill will adjust to the selected incline setting. Note: After the buttons are pressed, it may take a moment for the treadmill to reach the selected incline setting.

6 Follow your progress with the display.

that represents 1/4 mile. As you walk or run, indi- cators will appear in succession around the track until the entire track appears. The track will then disappear and the indicators will again begin to ap- pear in succession.

The left side of the display will show the elapsed time, the distance that you have walked or run,

and the incline level of the treadmill. Note: When a

calorie goal program is selected, the display will show the time remaining in the program instead of the elapsed time.

The right side of the dis- play will show the ap- proximate number of calories you have burned, the speed of the

walking belt, and your

pace in minutes per mile. The right side of the dis- play will also show your heart rate when you use the handgrip pulse sensor.
