Test Run and Spindle

Break-in

Complete this process once you have familiarized yourself with all instructions in this manual and you have made sure the machine is completely lubricated as described in Lubrication on Page 22. It is essential to closely fol- low the proper break-in procedures to ensure trouble free performance.

To begin the test run and spindle break-in procedure, do these steps:

1.Make sure there are no obstructions around or underneath the spindle.

2.Put on safety glasses, and make sure any bystanders are wearing safety glasses and are out of the way.

3.Plug the machine in and turn the ON/OFF switch ON, then set the mill to the slowest RPM. See Page 18 for adjusting RPM. The mill should run smoothly, with little or no vibration or rubbing noises.

If you hear squealing or grinding noises, turn the machine OFF immediately. Wait for the mill to stop moving, unplug the machine, and correct any problems before further operation.

If the source of an unusual noise or vibration is not readily apparent, contact our technical support for help at (360) 734-3482 or contact us online at tech-support@shopfox.biz.

4.If the mill runs smoothly, allow it to run for 10 min- utes at slow speed.

5.Slowly increase the RPM and allow it to run at a medium RPM for another ten minutes.

6.Slowly increase the RPM and allow it to run at a high RPM for another ten minutes.

NOTICE

Failure to follow the break-in proce- dures included in this manual may lead to shortened tool life and may void war- ranty.
