Manual TDR Measurements

The Manual measurement mode allows you to set manually all of the TDR controls for maximum test flexibility, but requires more than the one-button operation of the Auto test mode. Manual TDR operation is not complex if time is taken to review TDR basics in Chapter 2 of this manual and carefully follow the outlined procedures in this Operational section.

Figure 3-12

To access the Manual test screen from the Main Menu (Figure 3-12), use the UP/DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT arrows to highlight the Manual icon and then press Enter (F4).

The CE4000 will use automatically the VOP setting last selected in the Setup procedure. The VOP data is preserved, even when the CE4000 is turned off. The initial Manual screen is configured based on the results of an Auto test.

MANUAL

The initial screen will take several seconds to appear, as the initial auto test is being performed. A progress bar is displayed with the text “ Initializing”. Once the tests are completed, the Manual test screen is displayed (Figure 3-13). The tested cable VOP is shown in the upper right corner. The Pulse Width, Horizontal Gain and Position, Vertical Gain and Markers are all set automatically, but may be manually controlled by the user with the function and arrow keys.
