4.(Optional) If you want to save this log entry in your BUDDY LIST, move the cursor to MMSI then press ENTER and enter a buddy name. The MMSI is automatically displayed.
5.The cursor is at CALL BACK. Press ENTER.
6.Select the working channel and press ENTER.
Note: Duplex channels cannot usually be called and are automatically eliminated from the suggested call list. If the call is to a Coast Station, the channel is selected automatically.
7.The call details are shown. Pushes ENTER to send the call. The Tx icon is shown on the screen while the call is being sent.
8.If the call is acknowledged, press PTT to talk.
9.If there is no reply (UNABLE TO ACKNOWLEDGE), a message asks if you want to retry (SEND AGAIN?).
10.Select YES, then press ENTER to retry the call.
This cycle repeats twice. If the call still cannot be placed, the radio returns to normal operation.
5-6 Reply to a call in your Distress Log
Your distress log contains the contact details of the 10 most recent relayed distress calls, so that you can reply to any of these quickly. When the distress log is full, the oldest entry is
overwritten to select the priority level.

2.The cursor is at LAST CALL. Move the cursor to DIST CALL and push ENTER.
3.The contact details of the most recent incoming distress call are shown as the first entry (01) in the distress log. Move the cursor to step through the distress calls and select the entry that you want to call.
The details are displayed over two screens that alternate every 1.5 seconds: one screen shows the location and UTC time of the boat in distress. The other screen shows the na- ture of the emergency (if specified) and the MMSI of the boat that relayed the distress call.
