If, when recording in SP mode, there is not enough tape to record the entire program, the recorder automatically switches to EP mode to allow complete recording. This feature is especially handy when recording a program of more than 2 hours in length.

Make sure you set “AUTO SP→EP TIMER” to “ON” at the VHS Mode Set screen before the timer recording starts.

	by pressing @# (or
	23), then press fi

				SELECT WITH [∞523]
	2) On the HDD/VHS	SELECT	OK	END THEN PRESS [OK]
	Set Up screen, move
	the arrow to “VHS SET UP 2” by pressing @# (or
	23), then press fi (or ∞) or OK.

NOTES:

●If you have programmed the recorder to timer-record 2 or

more programs, the second program and those thereafter may not fit on the tape if you set the Auto SP→EP Timer mode to “ON”. In this case, make sure the mode is not engaged, then set the tape speed manually during timer programming.

●In order to ensure that the recording fits on the tape, this feature may leave a slight non-recorded section at the end of the tape.

●There may be some noise at the point on the tape where the VCR switches from SP to EP mode.

●The Auto SP→EP Timer feature is not available during ITR (Instant Timer Recording), and the feature will work with the following tapes: T(ST)-30, T(ST)-60, T(ST)-90, and T(ST)-120.

For Example . . .

Recording a program of 140 minutes in length onto a 120- minute tape

Approximately 110 minutes	Approximately 30 minutes

	SELECT AUTO SP=EP

	1) On the VHS Set Up		HDD/VHS SET UP	FUNCTION SET UP INITIAL SET UP
		2 screen, move the	HDD SET UP		VHS SET UP 1	VHS SET UP 2
		arrow to “AUTO	S-VHS MODE			ON
		SP EP TIMER” by				OFF
		=	AUTO SP=EP TIMER
		pressing %fi (or				OFF
						ON
		5∞), then press OK.
	2)	Pressing %fi (or	INDEX	MENU	SELECT WITH [∞523]
		5∞) to select the
			SELECT OK	END	THEN PRESS [OK]
		desired mode, then
		press OK.

RETURN TO NORMAL
