Gigabit and Fibre Channel Ports

The DS-SFP-FCGE-SW is a short wave SFP that operates on ordinary multimode fiber optic link spans of up to 500 meters in length for 1 Gbps Fibre Channel and up to 300 meters in length for 2 Gbps Fibre Channel. This SFP is ideal for Fibre Channel connectivity within an individual data center or department.

The DS-SFP-FCGE-LW operates on ordinary single-mode fiber optic link spans of up to 10,000 meters in length. This SFP is ideal for Fibre Channel Connectivity within a campus network or between data centers in close proximity.

Table B-2lists the SFP port cabling specifications for the SFP modules and connectors used in the SN 5428 Storage Router.
