3 Using the Enclosure Monitor Manager

IMPORTANT:

The Enclosure Monitor Manager is used with version 1.x of the HP BladeSystem Management Pack for Microsoft System Center to manage enclosures for monitoring. Version 2.x of the HP BladeSystem Management Pack uses the HP Device Monitor to manage HP BladeSystem enclosures. If you are using version 2.x, see the HP Device Manager for Microsoft System Center User Guide for information on managing enclosures. See “Related information” (page 54) for a link to this guide.

The Enclosure Monitor Manager only supports the Enclosure Monitor Service included with the same installation package. If any issues occur that could be caused by incompatible versions, update the monitor manager and monitor service with the same installation package, and then verify that you entered the correct IP address or DNS name.

The Enclosure Monitor Manager enables you to easily monitor the health of HP BladeSystem enclosures. The monitor manager requires user configuration for the Onboard Administrator to begin monitoring an enclosure. The monitor manager enables you to configure the required credentials and configuration information.

The monitor manager task appears in the Monitor Service State view when at least one enclosure is registered.

The Enclosure Monitor Manager interface includes the following fields:

Tree pane (left)

This pane, which can be collapsed and expanded, contains a tree that displays the connected monitor service and enclosures managed by the monitor service. The root node is the HP BladeSystem Enclosure Monitor Manager. The second level lists the connected Enclosure Monitor Service. The third level shows enclosures managed by the Enclosure Monitor Service.
