2 Installing HP BladeSystem Management Pack 1.x

This chapter contains the information for installing the HP BladeSystem Management Pack 1.x available for downloading from HP.

Installation overview

NOTE: You must register the BladeSystem c-Class enclosure with the Enclosure Monitor Manager to complete the installation of HP BladeSystem Management Pack. For more information, see “Using the Enclosure Monitor Manager” (page 14).

To install the management pack:

1.Download the management pack from the HP website (http://h18013.www1.hp.com/ products/servers/management/mom2007/index.html), and then unzip the file.

2.Run the self-extracting executable kit, and then select the management pack to install. The following kits are available for selection.

HP BladeSystem Enclosure Management Pack for Operations Manager (x86)

HP BladeSystem Enclosure Management Pack for Operations Manager (x64)

Description

HPBladeSystemMP0n_n(x86).exe Installs HP BladeSystem Enclosure management capability in an x86 environment

HPBladeSystemMP0n_n(x64).exe Installs HP BladeSystem Enclosure management capability in an x64 environment

NOTE: In the file names, n_n represents the version number (for example, use 1_5 for version 1.5).

3.Install the HP BladeSystem Management Pack for Operations Manager into the appropriate environment.

Complete installation

All modules on the Operations Manager server environment including Management Pack, Enclosure Monitor Service, Enclosure Monitor Manager, and documents

Custom installation

HP BladeSystem Management Pack on the Operations Manager server environment

HP BladeSystem Enclosure Monitor Service and the HP BladeSystem Enclosure Monitor Manager on a managed node environment (requires .NET 2.0 framework, PowerShell version 1.0, and SNMP trap service)

HP BladeSystem Enclosure Monitor Manager on the Operations Manager console environment (requires .NET 2.0 framework)

4.To launch HP BladeSystem Enclosure Monitor Manager, select the Launch HP BladeSystem Enclosure Monitor Manager check box.

The installer imports the management packs to the Operations Manager server.

5.Register the HP BladeSystem c-Class enclosures in the HP BladeSystem Enclosure Monitor Manager.

6.To view HP BladeSystem c-Class enclosures in the Operations Manager console, complete the post-installation procedures.
