Installing Windows for Workgroups 3.11

To install MS-DOS

This section is not intended to replace your MS-DOS Documentation. Please refer to your MS-DOS documentation for specific instructions.

1.Insert the MS-DOS Setup Disk 1.

2.Turn on the computer or press Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot.

3.Press Enter at the MS-DOS Welcome screen.

4.Enter the requested information or press Enter to accept the defaults.

5.Follow the instructions as they appear.

6.Reboot when prompted.

To install Windows for Workgroups 3.11

This section is not intended to replace your Windows documentation. Please refer to your Windows documentation for specific instructions.

1. Insert the Windows Setup Disk 1.

2. Type A:\SETUP at the MS-DOS prompt.

3. Follow the instructions as they appear.

Important

If you are installing Windows for Workgroups, do not install networking at this

 

time. Follow the instructions in the application note for the network card you are

 

using. Application notes are available on our website at:

 

http://www.hp.com/go/omnibook .

Return to MS-DOS when prompted.

 

 

5.

At the MS-DOS prompt type EDIT C:\CONFIG.SYS.

 

6.

Replace the line:

 

 

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS

 

 

with the lines:

 

 

DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS /MACHINE:2 /TESTMEM:OFF

 

 

DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-D1FF

 

7.

Save and exit the MS-DOS Editor.
