DISHWASHER CARE

Cleaning

Cleaning the exterior

In most cases, regular use of a soft, damp cloth or sponge and a mild detergent is all that is necessary to keep the outside of your dishwasher looking nice and clean. Dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Cleaning the interior

Hard water minerals can cause a white film to build up on the inside surfaces.

Do not clean the dishwasher interior until it has cooled. You may want to wear rubber gloves. Do not use any type of cleanser other than dishwasher detergent because it may cause foaming or sudsing.

To clean the Spray Arm

1.Carefully remove the base rack. Lift from the back end first so that you do not bump the detergent and rinse aid dispenser.

2.Lift the spray arm and shake out any foreign material.

3.Rinse the spray arm under running water and wipe it with a damp cloth.

4.Place the spray arm back onto the impeller.

To clean the Drain Filter

1.If the base rack is in place, lift up the drain filter access panel located under the silverware basket.

2.Lift and remove the drain filter out of the drawer.

3.Empty the drain filter, rinse under clean running water, and place back into the drain space.

4.Make sure that the drain filter is flush with the filter plate.

To clean interior

Make a paste with powdered dishwasher detergent on a damp sponge and clean.

OR

See the vinegar rinse procedure in “Spotting and filming on dishes” in “Troubleshooting.”

NOTE: Run a Normal cycle with detergent after cleaning the interior.

To clean the Filter Plate

1.Make sure that the dishwasher is cool before you start cleaning the filter plate and follow the instructions for removing the spray arm and drain filter.

2.In the center of the filter plate, there are two rings — an outer ring and a center ring. Hold the center ring still and turn the outer ring counterclockwise, ¹⁄₈ turn, until the tabs and notches in both rings align. This will release the filter plate.

3.Lift up the filter plate. Remove any soil, wash in hot soapy water, and rinse thoroughly in clean water. The bottom of the drawer can be wiped with a damp cloth.

4.Replace the filter plate so that it lies flat in the base of the drawer.

5.Align the outer ring making sure that the tabs align with the notches in the center ring.

6.To lock the filter plate into position, hold the center ring while you turn the outer ring clockwise until the lines on the two rings align. (See illustration above.)

7.When properly installed, you should not be able to move the filter plate.

IMPORTANT: For best performance, the drawer must be used with the filter plate, drain filter, and spray arm correctly in place.
