SECTION SIX: CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Self-Cleaning the Oven

Warning

• Children should not be left alone or unattended in an area where appliances are in use.

• During the self-clean cycle, exterior surfaces may become hotter than usual. Parts of the appliance

may become potentially harmful to children, and

-

to persons who lack adult knowledge of appli-

-

ances and lack adult reactions to potentially harmful conditions. Keep these individuals away during self-clean and while the appliance is in use.

The elimination of soil during self-cleaning process may facilitate the emission of small amounts of chemicals or other substances that may be harm- ful upon sufficient exposure. To minimize expo- sure to these substances, provide good ventila- tion with an open window, or use a ventilation fan or hood.

Keep pet birds out of the kitchen or other rooms where kitchen fumes could reach them. During self clean, fumes are released that may be harm- ful to birds.

LARGE GAS MAIN OVEN

The self-cleaning mode of your new range features pyrolytic self-cleaning. When set to the CLEAN mode, the oven reaches a high temperature, approximately 830°F, that burns off the food soil.

When the oven is set for CLEAN, the cooktop burners and electric griddle may be used. The secondary oven (48" models), the griddle and/or the grill cannot be used.

It is common to see smoke and/or flames during the CLEAN cycle, depending on the content and amount of soil remaining in the oven. If a flame persists, turn off the oven and allow it to cool before opening the door to wipe up the excessive food soil.

At the end of the CLEAN cycle, some gray ash or burned residue may remain inside the oven. This is a mineral deposit that does not burn or melt. The amount of ash depends on how heavily soiled the oven was before it was cleaned. It is easily removed, when the oven is cold, using a damp paper towel, sponge, or cloth.

Wipe off any smoke residue that remains on the front framewithFormula409® orFantastik®. Ifstainremains, use a mild liquid cleanser. The amount of smoke stain is directly related to the amount of food soil left in the oven at the time of self-cleaning. Clean the oven often.

BEFORE SELF CLEANING THE OVEN

Wipe out puddles of grease and any loose soil that can be easily removed.

Remove any soil that is outside the door seal area. This appliance is designed to clean the oven interior and that portion of the door that is inside the oven. The outer edges of the door and the oven cavity are not in the cleaning zone. Wipe this area clean BEFORE

SETTING THE OVEN TO SELF-CLEAN.

Remove all utensils.

Remove Racks.

Clean the oven front frame and outer door edges. Wipe up large spillovers and grease.

Be sure the light bulbs and glass covers are in place.

Turn on the ventilator hood above the range and leave it on until the oven has completed the self-clean cycle.

IMPORTANT: For the first Self-Cleaning cycle, remove small animals and birds from the kitchen and surrounding areas. Open a nearby window for additional ventilation.

If another clean cycle is initiated at the end of a clean cycle and the temperature of the oven is still above 500°, the LED will start blinking to indicate the range has not completely cooled down after the first cycle. The oven cannot be used until the oven temperature drops below 500° and the door is unlocked.

LOCK

When the CLEAN cycle starts, the automatic door lock cycle begins. The temperature gauge begins

to move to CLEAN five minutes after the clean mode is initiated. Check the door to confirm that it

is locked. You can stop the clean cycle by selecting the OFF position. The CLEANING light will turn off only after the oven has cooled below 500°F, and the automatic door lock has completed its cycle to the open position.

Make certain that the oven door is locked at the beginning of the self-cleaning cycle.

PRG36, PRG30 specifications

The Thermador PRG30 and PRG36 represent the pinnacle of luxury cooking with their high-performance gas range features and advanced technology. Designed for serious home chefs, these models exemplify efficiency, style, and culinary excellence.

One of the most notable features of the Thermador PRG series is the powerful Pro Grand dual-fuel cooking system. With a combination of gas burners and an electric convection oven, these ranges allow for precision cooking and even heat distribution. The PRG30 boasts a compact size with 30 inches of width, while the PRG36 expands the cooking surface with 36 inches, accommodating larger pots and pans.

Both models come equipped with high BTU burners, reaching up to 18,000 BTUs on the powerful Star Sapphire burners. These allow for rapid boiling and intense heat, ideal for searing meats or achieving high-temperature sautéing. Furthermore, the PRG series includes an innovative simmer setting that enables precise low-heat cooking, perfect for delicate sauces or melting chocolate.

Thermador has integrated their patented Star Burner design in both models. This unique feature provides a larger flame spread compared to traditional round burners. Consequently, it allows for better heat distribution, significantly enhancing cooktop efficiency. The cooktop is designed with six burners, giving chefs the flexibility to cook multiple dishes simultaneously without sacrificing performance.

The ovens in the PRG30 and PRG36 are equally impressive, featuring a spacious capacity of 4.4 cubic feet. The Convection Bake function circulates air for optimal baking results, ensuring even browning and consistent cooking. The models also include a number of innovative cooking modes, such as the Bake, Broil, and Roast settings, enhancing the overall cooking experience.

Additionally, self-cleaning options simplify maintenance, allowing for effortless cleaning after extensive use. The design of the PRG series is complemented by a sleek stainless-steel exterior that not only adds elegance to the kitchen but is also durable and easy to maintain.

In terms of safety, both models feature a safety system that prevents accidental ignition and precise temperature control, ensuring a safe cooking environment. With a focus on high performance, cutting-edge technology, and meticulous design, the Thermador PRG30 and PRG36 gas ranges offer an unparalleled cooking experience for culinary enthusiasts looking to elevate their kitchen capabilities.
