Norton AntiVirus provides a variety of threat protection and quick access features that help you maintain the security of your computer.

Virus and threat protection features

Norton AntiVirus monitors your computer for known and unknown viruses. A known virus is one that Norton AntiVirus can detect and identify by name. An unknown virus is one for which Norton AntiVirus does not yet have a definition.

Norton AntiVirus protects your computer from both types of viruses, using virus definitions to detect known viruses, and Bloodhound technology to detect unknown viruses. Norton AntiVirus uses virus definitions and Bloodhound technology during scheduled scans and manual scans, and Auto-Protect uses them to monitor your computer constantly.
