Introduction
Overview of the Installation Process
This section provides an overview of the process of installing,
setting-up, and configuring the Adaptec RAID controller:
1Install and configure the controller and hard drives, as
described in Chapter2, Inst alling the Controller and Drives.
2Your next steps depend on your system:
In a system without an operating system (fresh install)...
aBuild the bootable array, as described in Creating a Bootable
RAID 5 Array on page 2-4.
bInstall the controller driver at the beginning of the operating
system installation, as described in Chapter 3.
cInstall Adaptec Storage Manager as described in Chapter4.
dView, manage, and build additional arrays, as needed, using
Adaptec Storage Manager. For an overview, see Chapter5.

In an existing system that already has an operating system...
aInstall the controller driver.
