Installing the Controller and Drives
Using the Adaptec Installation CD
Note: SCSI only—You cannot create the RAID using a CD drive
connected to the RAID controller.
To build a bootable RAID 5 array using the Adaptec installation CD:
1Install the controller and drives, as described in Installing the
Controller and Drives on page 2-3.
2Start or restart the computer.
3Insert the Adaptec installation CD.
Note: If the installation CD does not start automatically,
you may need to enter system Setup and enable booting
from the CD. For details, refer to your computer’s
documentation.
4Select the appropriate language on the Language screen, then
press Enter. Read the information on the Licenses screen, then
press Enter again.
The Adaptec installation CD main menu is displayed.
5Select the option Launch Configuration Utility.
The system launches Adaptec Storage Manager. The Storage
Manager screen appears.
6Click Create.
7In the configuration wizard, select Custom.
8Click the RAID 5 button, then click Next.
9Click at least three drives to be used in your array.
Each drive you select is marked with a check.
