Adaptec RAID Configuration Utility (ARC)
Using the Disk Utilities
The disk utilities allow you to low-level format or verify the media
of the hard drives. To access the disk utilities:
1Restart the computer, then press Ctrl+A when prompted to
access the ARC utility.
2If multiple controllers are installed, select the controller you
want to configure, then press Enter.
3From the ARC menu, select Disk Utilities.
4Select the desired disk, then press Enter.
You are offered the following options:
–Format Disk—The functionality depends on the controller
type, as described below:
–SATA Controllers—Simulates a format of the hard drive
by removing the file system and writing zeros to the
entire disk.
–SCSI Controllers—Performs a low-level format.
Most drives are formatted at the factory and do not need to
be formatted again.
Caution: During formatting, all data is destroyed. Before
proceeding, back up any data.
–Veri fy Di sk Me di a—Scans the media of a dr ive for defects.
Any errors found are corrected.
