3-34Port Configuration

Use the Port Configuration menus to configure any port on the switch.

Parameter Default Description
Flow Control Mode DISABLED Allows you to enable or disable flow control for all ports
on the switch.
Admin Status Enable Allows you to disable a port due to abnormal behavior
(e.g., excessive collisions), and then re-enable it after
the problem has been resolved. You may also disable a
port for security reasons.
Duplex Status Auto-Negotiation Used to set the current port duplex mode or
auto-negotiation. The default is auto-negotiation.
Flow Control status Disabled Used to enable or disable flow control. Flow control can
eliminate frame loss by “blocking” traffic from end
stations or segments connected directly to the switch
when its buffers fill. Back pressure is used for half
duplex and IEEE 802.3x for full duplex. Note that flow
control should not be used if a port is connected to a
hub.
