BOOTP
If you have the B OOTP daem on, b ootp d, ru nnin g on y our U NIX /Lin ux
system that is a cces sibl e by t he P rint Serv er, yo u can use the B OOTP
protoc ol to set up th e Pr int S erve r’s IP add ress . We r ecom mend that
the BO OTP s erve r is loca ted o n the same sub net a s the Prin t Se rver.
If you use Netwo rk I nform atio n Ser vice s (N IS) in yo ur sy stem, you
may ne ed to reb uild the N IS ma p wit h the BOOT P se rvic es be fore
doing the f ollo wing BOOTP conf igur atio n. To r ebui ld th e NIS map,
refer to yo ur sy stem docu ment ation .
To conf igur e the IP-a ddre ss da ta fo r the BOOT P se rver, you w ill n eed
to log in t he ho st of the BOOTP ser ver a s the “sup erus er” (roo t).
