GAS CONTROL REPLACEMENT
Step 1. Rotate knob of the Gas Control to the “OFF” position.
Step 2. Turn off gas supply to water heater.
Step 3. Disconnect gas supply line fromGas Control.
Step 4. Turn off water supply and drain waterheater completely.
Step 5. Removeouter jacket burner access door.
Step 6. Right sideinner door removal.
a) Disconnect red wire leads from resett able thermal switch.
b) Remove (2) hex drive sc rews from RIGHT side inn er door.
c) Remove (2) hex drive screws from FLANGE SECTION of inner do or.
d) Remove right side inner door and set aside. Be careful not to damage gasket materialon inner door.
Rotate knobcounter-clockwise
to the “OFF”p osition.

Step 7. Removal of Gas Control.
a) Disconnectmain burner feedline, pilot tube, piezo igniter wire, inner door wire (red) and thermopile wire
(white) from Gas Control.
b) Remove Gas Control from wate r heater by rotating counter c lockwise. DO NOT use a wrenc h on the
Gas Control body, damage to the Gas Control may occur. If necessary,use a length of ½" NPT pipe
threaded into gas inlet ofGas Control.
Step 8. Install new Gas Control into water heater.
a) Install new Gas Control into water heater by rotating clockwise. DO NOT use a wrench on the Gas
Control body, damage to the Gas Control mayoccur. If necessary, use a length of ½" NPT pipe threaded
into gas inlet of Gas Control.
