You can minimize overexposed highlight areas.

Select [Highlight tone priority].

Under the [z4] tab, select

[Highlight tone priority], then press <0>.

Select [Enable].

Select [Enable], then press <0>. Highlight details are improved. The dynamic range is expanded from the standard 18% gray to bright highlights. The gradation between the grays and highlights becomes smoother.

3 Take the picture.

The image will be recorded with highlight tone priority applied.

With [Enable], the Auto Lighting Optimizer (p.140) is automatically set to [Disable] and the setting cannot be changed. When [Highlight tone priority] is set to [Disable], the Auto Lighting Optimizer will revert to its original setting.

With [Enable], image noise (graininess and banding, etc.) may increase slightly more than with [Disable].

With [Enable], the settable range will be ISO 200 - ISO 12800 (up to ISO 6400 for movies). Also, the <A> icon will be displayed in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel when highlight tone priority is enabled.
