54Recording Options using the Memory Card

NOTES

The still image cannot be recorded on the memory card while recording in widescreen (16:9) mode or while a digital effect is activated.

To record still images we recommend using

the mode, which offers the best quality for still images.

NOTES

The data code of the captured still image/movie clip will reflect the date and time when it was recorded on the memory card.

Capturing a Still Image or Movie Clip from the Playback Picture

While you are playing back a tape you can capture the picture as a still image or as a movie clip on the memory card. The size of the still image will be [S 640x480] and cannot be changed.

Select the quality of the still image with the procedure below. Refer to Selecting the Size of Movie Clips on the Memory Card ( 53) to select the size of the movie clip.

TO CAPTURE A STILL IMAGE

During playback or in playback pause mode, press PHOTO .

TO CAPTURE A MOVIE CLIP

During Playback or in playback pause mode, press Start/Stop .

Press Start/Stop again to stop the recording.

Automatic Focus Priority

When the focus priority is activated, the camcorder records a still image only after the focus has been adjusted automatically. When the mode switch is set to , you can also select the AF (autofocus) frame.

Depending on the shooting conditions, one or more AF frames out of the nine frames available are automatically selected and the focus is fixed on them.

A single focusing frame appears in the center of the screen and the focus is automatically fixed on the center AF frame. This is convenient for making sure the focus is exactly where you want it.
