Installing the Router

The router recognizes all SCSI devices connected to the three SCSI channels on the VFS113, and assigns each device a unique LUN address, which will be mapped as part of a unique FC address. You can configure the router to assign itself a LUN for in-band management, server-free backup, and other uses.

To make the host FC connection:

1Connect the Fibre Channel cable to the router and the host computer, hub, or switch.

2Power up connected servers, hubs, or switches on the network if necessary.

You are now ready to configure the router. To view the default settings, see Router Default Settings on page 2-12. For information about changing the default settings, see Chapter 3, Configuring the Router.

Understanding the LED Status Lights

LED status lights are on the rear panel of the router. For information about troubleshooting problems indicated by the status lights, see Chapter 4, Troubleshooting.
