How to Check
Usea good quality pocket-type gage to check tire
pressure. You cannot tell if your tires are properly inflated
simplyby looking at them. Radial tires may look properly
inflatedeven when they’re under-inflated. Check the tire’s
inflationpressure when the tires are cold. Cold means
yourvehicle has been sitting for at least three hours or
drivenno more than 1 mile (1.6 km).
Remove the valve cap from the tire valve stem. Press
the tire gage firmly onto the valve to get a pressure
measurement. If the cold tire inflation pressure matches
the recommended pressure on the Tire and Loading
Information label, no further adjustment is necessary. If
the inflation pressure is low, add air until you reach
the recommended amount.
If you overfill the tire, release air by pushing on the
metal stem in the center of the tire valve. Re-check the
tire pressure with the tire gage.
Besure to put the valve caps back on the valve stems.
Theyhelp prevent leaks by keeping out dirt and moisture.
Tire Pressure Monitor SystemYour vehicle has a Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) that
sends tire pressure information to the Driver Information
Center (DIC). Using the DIC control buttons, the
driver is able to check tire pressure levels in all four
tires. See Tire Pressure Monitor System on page5-61
and DIC Controls and Displays on page3-48 for
additional information.
