Hex dump mode

Experienced users can use hex dump mode to pinpoint communication problems between the printer and a software program. To turn on hex dump mode, hold down the Load/Eject and Font buttons and turn on the printer. Then send a print job. The printer prints the exact codes it receives from the computer in hexadecimal format.

Problems with Printing

If you cannot get the printer to print, first check that paper is loaded in the printer. Then check that the printer is plugged into a working electrical outlet that is not controlled by a switch or timer. Verify that the interface cable is securely connected to the printer and computer.

If the problem is not with the power cord or interface cable, print a self test as described in Chapter 1. If the self test does not print, the problem is with the printer. If the self-test prints correctly, the problem probably lies with your software.

After you perform the self test, see the following specific problems.

The Data light is on and the Stylus COLOR window appears on screen, but you cannot print.

There may be a conflict between the printer and your computer. To resolve the problem, do the following:

1.In the Program Manager, double-click the Main program group to open it.

2.Double-click the File Manager icon.
