The printer makes a grinding noise and does not feed paper.

Something is pressing against the knob on the printer’s right side. Turn off the printer and reposition it, leaving approximately

2 inches of open area next to the printer’s right side. The printer will not work if anything is pressing against the knob.

All lights except the Operate light flash and nothing prints.

Contact your dealer or EPSON.

Printing stops and the Data and Pause lights flash.

There is a problem with the carriage. Turn off the printer. After a few seconds, turn it back on and try printing again. If the error is not cleared, contact your dealer or a qualified service person.

The printer sounds like it is printing, but nothing prints.

The print heads may need cleaning. See Chapter 5 for instructions.

One or both ink cartridges are empty or too old. A cartridge is too old if it has been used longer than six months or beyond the date on its packaging. First clean the print heads as described in Chapter 5. If this does not solve the problem, replace the ink cartridges.

Ink cartridges do not last as long as expected.

The ink cartridge life varies, based on the amount of ink used in printing and how often you clean the print heads. If you often print pages with large graphics and dense text with little white space, you will use up cartridges faster than if you print pages with lots of white space.
