Interface error

The interface setup is wrong, or the scanner is not properly connected to the computer.

If this error occurs, check the interface connection. See “Connecting the Scanner to Your Computer” in Chapter 1. Then press the RESET button or turn the scanner off and back on to reset it.

Fatal error

This indicates one of the following problems:

0The transportation lock lever is set to the LOCK position.

0The fluorescent lamp needs to be replaced.

0The scanner is broken.

0There is a problem, such as an open cover, with the optional transparency unit or the optional automatic document feeder.

Check that the transportation lock lever is set to the UNLOCK position and check any installed options; then press the RESET button. If the scanner still does not operate properly, try turning the scanner off and then back on. If it still does not operate properly, or if this error occurs repeatedly, consult your dealer.

Option error

This indicates a problem such as a paper jam with an installed option unit.

Check the option unit and correct the problem. See Chapter 3, “Options.”
