6Functional Specifications

Acoustic Noise

The overall, averaged A-weighted sound power levels (decibels) for the tape drive do not exceed the upper limits specified in Table 6-14.

Table 6-14Acoustic noise limits

	Operating mode	LWA*

	The tape drive is powered on and idle.	40 dBA

	The tape drive is fully operational and operating in	45 dBA
	streaming mode for a read or write operation.	45 dBA
	streaming mode for a read or write operation.

*LWA is the average A-weighted sound power level over the following frequency range: 5 Hz to 12.5 KHz.
