Frequently asked questions

QWhat is the best way to clean stainless steel?

ASee ‘Care and cleaning’ instructions.

QHow do I clean the grates and burners?

AGrates can be washed in the dishwasher or alternatively with a cream cleaner and a nylon scourer. Burners are best washed in warm water (see ‘Care and cleaning’ instructions).

QAll the burners spark at once when I go to light one, is this ok?

AYes, they are designed to do this.

QWhy doesn’t my cooktop light?

AFirstly, check it is plugged in and the gas is turned on. Alternatively, the gas ignitors may be dirty. These are easily cleaned with a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol. (Also check ‘Troubleshooting’.)

QWill the graphics on my cooktop come off?

ANo, these are etched by laser.

QMy burner flames are yellow / slow to start, is something wrong?

AYes, there are a number of factors which could be causing this:

If you use bottled gas, this may indicate you are getting near the end of the bottle.

Your cooktop may not be suited to the gas you are using, check with your service person/ installer.

The gas pressure may not be correct, check with your service person/installer. See ‘Troubleshooting’.

QOne of my burners has an uneven flame, what can I do?

ACheck the burner parts are assembled correctly.

QWhat size pots should I use?

AGenerally larger pots are more energy efficient (see ‘Cookware’).

QDo I need special pans for a gas cooktop?

ARegular pans are fine. We recommend thick-based pans for efficient, even heat.
