Log filter options

 

 

Note: If more than one log message is collected before an interval is reached, the messages are combined and sent out as one alert email.

You can select specific events to trigger alert email in Log Filter, described in “Log filter options” on page 345.

To configure alert email

Note: Before configuring alert email make sure you configure at least one DNS server. The FortiGate unit uses the SMTP server name to connect to the mail server, and must look up this name on your DNS server.

1Go to Log&Report > Alert E-mail.

2Select Enable to enable SMTP Authentication if required.

3Configure the SMTP server, user, and password information if required.

4Type up to three email addresses, one per Email To field.

5Configure the time limit in which to send email for each logging severity level.

6Select the logging severity level for which you want to send alert email.

7Select Apply.

Log filter options

For each logging location you enable, you can create a customized log filter based on the log types described in the following sections.

Note: Log locations must be enabled in Log Setting to be available for selection in the Log

Filter.
